Order Description

Discuss the origin, function and significance of circumcision in the Old Testament. Be sure to include a discussion of (MUST):

1. Where and why circumcision was practice in the Ancient Near East (ANE)
2. The meaning and significance of circumcision in Genesis 17; especially discuss the description of circumcision as a ‘sign’
3. The question of why circumcision is extended to all of Abraham’s family and servants;
4. A summary of other texts in the Old Testament where circumcision is mentioned, and its significance in such texts.

Structuring Your Paper
Be explicit about the topic of your paper – what question are you asking, why are you bothering
to ask it, what is the answer you have come up with?
? Your paper should be an economics paper (not a history, or sociology, or philosophy paper).
