post has three assignments

1:Research Gap Worksheet

This worksheet will help you complete task the Module Four Research Gap Worksheet: Identifying a Research Gap assignment.

Review the five studies in your chosen track (three of which were provided and two of which were your choice).

This worksheet is filled out to provide an example for you to follow. Use this sheet as a template by deleting the highlighted portions and replacing them with your own content.

Gap Identification

Based upon your review of the articles in your chosen track, identify a gap in the personality psychology research presented in the course that is unexplored or underdeveloped. For example, is there an unexplored aspect of personality psychology you believe could be further explored?

There have been quite a few studies conducted about how the placement of a child within the family dynamics when it comes to birth order on their personality along with how looking into attachment theory and its affect on personality. These are all valid studies but there haven’t been much in the neighborhood on how the number of parents within a household makeup affects a child’s personality and overall outlook.

Research Question

Develop a basic research question addressing the identified gap. In other words, create a question that further investigates your identified gap and that you could answer through research.

What role does the number of parents in a household play in a child’s personality development?

2:Resurrection of the psychodynamic

What is the title of the article? Provide a citation for the article in APA format.
Attachment theory and research: Resurrection of the psychodynamic approach to personality
Attachment theory and research: Resurrection of the psychodynamic approach to personality. Shaver, Phillip R.; Mikulincer, Mario Journal of Research in Personality, Vol 39(1), Feb 2005, 22-45.

What is the purpose of the article?
In this article, we conceptualize attachment theory as a contemporary psychodynamic approach, show how this theory has helped to bring psychodynamic psychology back to life, and review empirical evidence from our laboratories that supports many of the psychodynamic hypotheses advanced by Bowlby.

What is the hypothesis of the study? In other words, what claims do the authors make in the article?
They are hoping to show that attachment theory not only adheres to the main propositions of psychodynamic theories, but also provides reliable and valid tools for empirically examining such propositions and producing a solid body of empirical evidence that contributes to a resurrection of the psychodynamic approach to personality.

What variables (factors) are being looked at as an influence on personality?
It seems as if the things that are being compared in this article are attachment theory and how it relates to the pschycodynamic theory.

If these variables or the relationship between these variables have been studied before, what have other studies found? This shows historical significance.
These variables were studied before and initially created by Sigmund Freud in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His work set the basis for today’s studies and offers people a different perspective into the study of personality.

What type of research design is used in the study?
Qualitative Research due to the historical aspect and it going over and reviewing many previous already conducted studies.

Do you think the research in this article was conducted in an ethical manner? Why or why not?
Seeing that it is just going over previous studies and articles and applying them to answer an overall question I believe that there is no need for concern over ethical standards as long as the things being studied were done in an ethical manner.

3: Personality in middle childhood and young adulthood

What is the title of the article? Provide a citation for the article in APA format.
Interlinkages between attachment and the Five-Factor Model of personality in middle childhood and young adulthood: a longitudinal approach.

Fransson, M., Granqvist, P., Bohlin, G., & Hagekull, B. (2013). Interlinkages between attachment and the Five Factor Model of personality in middle childhood and young adulthood: a longitudinal approach. Attachment & Human Development, 15(2), 219 239. doi:10.1080/14616734.2013.754985
What is the purpose of the article?
The purpose of these articles seems to me to show the concurrent and prospective links between attachment and the Five-Factor Model of personality from middle childhood to young adulthood

What is the hypothesis of the study? In other words, what claims do the authors make in the article?
The claim is those concurrent and longitudinal relations between attachment and the FFM of personality in middle childhood and young adulthood. An additional aim was to explore whether attachment, in middle childhood as well as in young adulthood, made a unique contribution to personality in young adulthood over and above any observed temporal stability in personality.

What variables (factors) are being looked at as an influence on personality?
At age 8.5 years, attachment was measured with the Separation Anxiety Test and at 21 years with the Adult Attachment Interview, whereas the personality dimensions were assessed with questionnaires at both time points.

If these variables or the relationship between these variables have been studied before, what have other studies found? This shows historical significance.
I do not think that there were previous studies done that were exactly like this one.

What type of research design is used in the study?
I think it was a cross-sectional survey study.

Do you think the research in this article was conducted in an ethical manner? Why or why not?
If during the time that the patients were children they were supervised by their parents in filling out any questionnaires and anything else covered within the study I do believe it was ethical.
