2:Submit a full report of 4,000 words that addresses all four areas outlined above. In this final submission you will be expected to have addressed the feedback from your task one draft report for the first two areas.
Organisation: China Railway Construction Corporation
Here are the four areas again:
1. An introduction to the report and a brief background to the organisation.
2. A critical evaluation of the environmental trends in the international market sector in which the company operates.
3. An overview of the company’s product/ market focus and the reasons for its domestic, regional and international success to date.
4. A set of recommendations against the background of your analysis above about market/ geography development an d branding and marketing mix decisions that can help the organisation to build competitive advantage.
Task two is worth 80% of the final module mark.
Guidance on report layout
Tasks one and two must be presented as a business report but they must also include references and a bibliography.
Reports typically include the following elements:
1. Cover page (excluded from word count)
2. Contents page (excluded from word count)
3. Report style numbering system
4. Appendix as and when necessary (excluded from word count)
5. Main headings to separate out key sections
6. Sub-headings to separate out key sub-sections
7. Bullet points for lists
8. Bibliography using the SHU Harvard referencing system (excluded from word count)
Guidance on referencing
For a good grade, your discussion must be underpinned by a selection of secondary sources and/or academic materials (e.g. books and journal articles) throughout your work or where appropriate. All work must be fully referenced using the Harvard Referencing System to acknowledge sources used or consulted for the production of your report otherwise your work will be classed as plagiarism.
Guidance on word count
Items in the appendix and words in tables, diagrams, charts, and figures are excluded from your word count. References are also excluded from your word count. Note that the appendix should only be used to support your discussion in the report (which is what is being marked). It should not be used to supplement your report so that more words can be squeezed into your assignment. In other words, a poorly written report with a fantastic appendix is not going to achieve a good grade.
Guidance on submitting your work to Turnitin
The Turnitin tool is available on the Blackboard site for this module and you can submit your work as many times as necessary to Turnitin before you submit your final hard copy to SHIP and your final soft copy to Turnitin. Note that Turnitin will check your work against published sources and also against work submitted by other students at SHU, including the other students on your module.
