Order Description
Task:
Wagga Class Furniture is involved in manufacturing both home and office furniture. They have a limited range of products and one of these accounts for more than half their sales (in terms of revenue). The company has hired you to help them determine the best location for their plant. It believes that in order to facilitate its strategy of responsiveness to customer need and unsurpassed quality, it is essential that the new manufacturing plant be located as near to their suppliers as possible. Suppliers for the company are mainly located within the state although some material is sourced elsewhere.
As the first step to the exercise, the company has provided you the following data that offers the location of the suppliers and the number of units ordered from each of them. The 2nd and 3rd columns represent X and Y coordinates (in km) from its existing main office.
write a short consultants report to the senior management of Wagga Class Furniture highlighting important plant location information relative to the suppliers. Include data on location study, and any other information that would be essential for determinning the best location of the plant. Your report should also be accompanied with a plot of the coordinates of the suppliers location and the required analysis the graph bellows to determine the best location for the plant. (See the graph bellows: you will see “the centre of the gravity” which is the best plant location calculated by POM program)
Also, in your report explain the limitations of the above centre of gravity approach, what other factors you would consider and what technique or techniques you would use (consider other factors like: Tangible and intangible factors…….Discuss what other factors they would consider and how other factors can be accommodated in different techniques.), and provide your recommendations to senior management of Wagga Class Furniture so that they can achieve their strategy of responsiveness to customer need and unsurpassed quality .
2:Advertising and Pricing Strategies
Order Description
Advertising and Pricing Strategies
Having read this week’s Learning Resources, you are now well aware that advertising objectives determine the types of advertising selected to promote a product and that certain types of advertisements work best in particular stages of the product adoption process. Think about the different kinds of advertisements you have seen and consider the purpose behind the creation of these ads. In other words, what is the message the ad is trying to relate and why?
Brands make purchasing decisions easier, and creating a successful brand can go a long way toward the successful introduction of new products under the successful brand banner. Think about the pricing strategies that are applied to various products that you buy, especially new product offerings of successful brands.
To prepare:
Review Chapters 15–17 in your course text.
Post by Day 3 a 150- to 250-word response to the following:
Identify one of your favorite ads and describe the message (value proposition), medium, and language used. How does this relate to target segments?
Choose a product that you or someone you know has purchased recently. What pricing strategy (e.g., introductory pricing, price skimming, market penetration) was used in pricing this product? On what basis was the decision to purchase made? What kind of research was done before a decision was made? What do you think the company’s objective was in making its pricing decision?
Be sure to support your work with specific citations from the Learning Resources and any additional sources.
