post has three assignments
1: Nutrition micronutrient
Order Description
Each student will write one 3-page research paper critique independently of others.
? Each student is to select a research study on a micronutrient listed on the syllabus. No more than one student can critique the same paper. Email the TA your paper choice to confirm that it has not yet been chosen.
? Reviews and meta-analyses are not to be used; selected article should have methods, results, and discussion sections (ask if unsure)
? The article should be from the past 5 years (exceptions upon approval)
? The paper should address each of the following points
1. The paper will start with an introduction paragraph.
2. Discuss the study purpose and hypothesis; why was this research conducted? That is, what was the deficiency in the knowledge base (a void that needed addressing)? 2+ references suggested
3. Which research design was used in this research and what is the evidence supporting your choice? (choices: survey, epidemiological, cohort, or experiment [such as RCT]) (note: reviews and meta-analysis are not permitted for paper)
4. Discuss the validity of the research methods: are the investigators using good measurement techniques? What is your evidence? (this evidence is usually presented in the methods section) Is the sample population appropriate? Is the behavior or trait being measured properly? 2+ references suggested
5. Discuss the results ? was the hypothesis accepted or rejected? State the most important results using some actual data from the paper
6. Discuss how these data may be useful to the public 2+ references suggested
1. What is the next step? What future research needs to be conducted? 2+ references suggested
2. End the paper with a summary paragraph to integrate and conclude concepts/ideas/possibilities
3. Your final paper should have at least 9 references (including the study that is being critiqued ? references are to be from the research literature and not websites. Use Pubmed to help search for references ? you need to be in the ASU system for link to work).
4. Do not use any quotes ? state information in your own words. (Quotes are rarely used in scientific writing in the nutrition field.)
5. Do not use 1st person
6. The paper is to be typed (use Times New Roman – 12 point font; double space with 1 inch margins) and include a title page with the following information: title, name, date. The text of the paper (excluding title page and reference pages) must = 3 full pages (not < or > 3 pages).
7. All references cited in the paper must follow the American Medical Association style. Please see Blackboard for an AMA Formatting Style Guide.
1. In-text citations should be made using numeric superscripts; number them in the order of appearance.
8. If the paper that was critiqued cannot be accessed via pubmed
9. The paper is to be submitted through safe assignment via Blackboard
10. A grading rubric will be used for scoring the paper (see following page)

Hide Description
Although emergency planning and operations have been conducted without a real consideration of integrating Internet into emergency operations, recent developments in Internet and computer technology have made it possible to change the ICS to allow for stronger (an assumption) external control of all types of emergencies.
There are obvious advantages and disadvantages to using Internet during emergencies. One problem is that the Internet was not developed with security in mind. There is no governing body on the Internet to ensure compliance with security measures. Although freedom from authority fosters innovation, it has an adverse effect on security.
The distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks in February 2000 illustrate how lax individual security can affect Internet security. Attackers used intermediary sites to launch attacks on the targeted sites. These activities were not transparent to the intermediate sites. Consequently, the intermediate sites did not realize they needed to implement security measures to prevent the attackers from using them to attack the targeted sites; further, they had no motive, other than general good will, to close the vulnerabilities on their sites that facilitated the DDoS attacks.
Without some central authority to ensure full implementation of security measures, each organization is more or less on its own and can be at the mercy of other organizations whose concern about security is far less than their own, or maybe even nonexistent. For local and state emergency response agencies to trust the Internet with their most sensitive data, additional precautions must be taken to ensure the right people are accessing the emergency response networks and that only authorized users can read transient data.
? Based on this brief discussion, do you believe that the significant use of Internet in emergency operations will be limited until they can be conducted safely on the Internet?
Please state you opinion with citations and critique that of another student by the conclusion of this module.
3: Crowd funding and trust
Order Description
Visit kickstarter.com and analyze the site very carefully. Then explain why crowd-funding is a democratic and creative way to raise money for independent small budget projects. On the other hand, this is also a business model which can be criticized. So, discuss the pros and cons of crowd-funding and give an example of a success story of a funded project from your own country.
analyze the website in terms of the issue of trust.
what are some of the physical architectural that you see that makes the website more trustworthy platform (mechanisms)
availability of comment section, types of payments, what type of projects are the majorities, from which countries is the money coming from.
after picking a specific project to analyze and right about; why did you pick that project?
what are some of the incentives that are given there to make you invest? include details and specific examples.
what are the pros and cons of crowd funding
intellectual property rights?
how do you guarantee that the right is for you when you put your idea in the website?
Again, focus on one project and analyze
