post contains two assignments

write an essay comparing and contrasting attitudes towards sacred chant within Islamic, Hindu, and Christian contexts.

The books reading for this course are: Morgan, David. 2005. The Sacred Gaze: Religious Visual Culture in Theory and Practice. Berkeley, CA: University of California Press. (Referred to as The Sacred Gaze in the Course Outline, this book is available as an e-resource through the Healey Library website). 2. Plate, S. Brent (ed.) 2002. Religion, Art, & Visual Culture: A Cross-Cultural Reader. New York: Palgrave

2: Government Spending

Order Description

Fiscal Policy (government spending and/or taxes); Budget deficit and/or Public debt; Monetary Policy (Federal Reserve, interest rates, money supply).
Find examples in select newspapers and magazines of topics covered in class or the
textbook. Then describe the topic and how it is illustrated by the example. Each essay will be at least 500
words long. Essays are to be written on specific topics from each of the four units.
As part of your everyday reading, look through stories on business and economic news while thinking
about the topics covered in class or textbook. You can find some under the Pages tab on our class Canvas
site. Keep in mind that the news article does not have to use terms such as “opportunity cost” or “supply
and demand”. In fact, you probably won’t see those words in the article. If that’s what you are looking
for, you probably won’t find it. You aren’t looking for those terms. You are looking for a story about
something that shows those things at work in the world. That’s what you are to learn. Can you see the
ideas for yourself even when no one is pointing to it and saying, “this is supply and demand.” For
example, if you find a story about people or companies trying to make a decision – and where deciding to
do one thing means they will have to give up something else – then that is opportunity cost! And all you
have to do is explain it to me. If you find a story that tells why something’s price has changed – that is
probably supply and demand! And all you have to do is tell me why. It is not a long paper and does not
have to follow formal rules for citations. Just find a real world example that shows a class topic and tell
me about it. Keep it simple.
Essay Topics

of the topics are connected (price indexes and inflation rates, for example) it is likely that more than one

Investment; Aggregate Demand and/or its determinants and spending components; Aggregate Supply and
its determinants; AD & AS relating to inflation and unemployment; Inflation/Unemployment tradeoff;
