The purpose of this assignment is to assist the RN-BSN nursing student in becoming familiar with nurse theorists and their role in nursing historically and in current day. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.

Assignment: You are to complete a 2-page paper exploring your chosen nurse theorist (except Florence Nightingale) using appropriate APA format.

Use the following structure for your paper:
1) Introduction
a. In one paragraph, briefly describe the nurse theorist you have chosen and why. Lillian Wald
2) Discussion (several paragraphs):
a. Describe the category (Philosophy, Conceptual Model/Grand Theory, or Mid-Range Theory) your theory represents.

b. Describe how the metaparadigm concepts, if applicable (person, environment, health and nursing) are utilized in your nurse theorist’s theory.
c. Compare the major concepts of your nurse theorist to another theorist in the same category or to CSUB DON conceptual model.
d. Discuss the historical significance, if any of your nurse theorist theory.
e. Discuss how your nurse theorist theory is relevant in current day nursing.
f. How could you adapt this theory to your current day practice?
3) Conclusion
a. What effect has nursing theories had on nursing practice and patient outcomes? Explain.
b. Are nursing theories still applicable today? Why or why not?
