International Management and Film David Lynch’s 2001 film Mulholland Drive can be interpreted very differently
according to the multiple levels of meaning (referential, explicit, implicit and symptomatic) that can be used to analyze and
critique films for their content and metaphors on management. The film also offers several narratives and metaphors for
how Hollywood films are managed as a key driver in how the plot of the film progresses. In this sense, it is possible to see
both elements of Bell and Wasko in the film.
Your assignment is to attempt an analysis of the film using concepts and practices by both Bell and Wasko. The plot of
Mulholland Drive is impenetrable to most spectators who view the film for the first time. I have provided an article
(Wyman, Garrione & Klein, 2001: "Everything you were afraid to ask about Mulholland Drive") to help you
understand some of the seemingly mysterious narrative, symbols and plot devices according to one of the dominant
interpretations of the film.
The approach would be to pick out key concepts from Bell and show how those play out in the film. You can also look at
the wealth of information provided by other interpretations on the film that you can uncover from google. A minimum
length to adequately cover this topic should be 3 pages,
