DESIGN BRIEF
You will develop a White Paper Report that includes everything in your verbal presentation as well as further data and anecdotes that support your conclusion. Everything you say in the presentation must be in the paper but does not necessarily have to be transcribed word for word. Paragraphs or bullet points should be used and can be accompanied by pull quotes and photo captions. Although this is not a writing intensive class, attention to spelling and grammar will be evaluated. The White Paper Report is due Tuesday, November 6 and will accompany a revised verbal presentation.

The focus of this project is Editorial Design. The entire report will be assembled with consistent graphics and the design of each page will contribute to the understanding of your report’s conclusion. You will be evaluated on how well all images, graphics, text, photos, layout as well as other design considerations presented in class and via tutorials are used to further understand the topic.

The White paper will be designed using InDesign. The page size will be 81/2” by 11” set up as spreads (left and right-hand pages.) The report will be a minimum of 12 pages and a maximum of 24 pages − the overall page count must be divisible by 4 in order to accommodate facing pages. Templates will be provided in order to prepare files for print − printed reports are not required to be printed double-sided.

The report must include the following:
A cover with an image (photo or illustration) and title as well as your name.
A table of contents.
All content from your presentation.
A design approach that shares the same color palette and typefaces as well as other graphic elements from your verbal presentation.
Additional content not covered in the presentation that supports your claim.
Images (photos, illustrations) to support your narrative − these may be standalone or paired with captions or pull quotes.
(NOTE: Images can come from any source − high res images are preferred and the use of low-res graphics will impact your grade)

One physical version of your report will be handed out after the presentation and a PDF
