Develop, steward or analyze an evaluation report

For your final project in ENVD 3122 you will develop, steward or analyze an evaluation report from a selection of ten published studies referenced in class slides and linked here.

The report evaluation is intended to serve several purposes. It allows you to:

Apply the research methods that we have covered in class this semester
Critically analyze different sources of evidence related to a topic of interest to you
Learn organizational skills necessary to manage and complete a thorough review of a published study
Become an intelligent consumer of research and evidence-based claims and become familiar with the perils and pitfalls of making claims
Logistics

You may find that for your topic of interest, certain reports are more feasible to review and expand upon than others. We urge you to speak any one of us—including your TAs—early and often to explore your ideas, hone your framing of the ideas, and expand ways of thinking about the report that interests you.

This is not a research paper. It is a review of a published study; you are to build upon the report that is provided. You won’t be doing the research (at least not for this class), but you are framing a critique of a report and laying out how you could improve upon it. The evaluation report will assess a range of topics from a municipal bike share, a city park system, or a bus rapid transit project.

This project will be built in three phases:

First Phase due Friday, November 9. You will submit an approximate 300-word review of your selected evaluation report. It will include 7-10 reference annotated bibliography that will serve as a foundation for your suggested research improvements.
The ten linked studies for you to choose from are provided here.
Your job in this phase is to describe a central objective of the report and how you would theoretically make this project better with additional research.
Your review should include:
Quick insights into the strength of the research approach.
An identification of two to three issues with the study that warrant further consideration.
Pointing to ideas or strategies for how the methods in the study could be strengthened, or
Suggestions for additional methods to the study that were not originally used. Please see next section.
In your annotated bibliography, include 7 – 10 additional resources that you could use to learn more about how to improve your chosen study.
This annotated bibliography will be made of similar studies that have been done in the past, that will help inform your critique of your chosen study
Include 2-3 sentences on each of the 7-10 citations that you include, describing what the reference is, why you have included it, and what from it you will draw upon to add to your analysis
Please use APA formatting in your citations
