HW-3 – Disaster Resilient Community Project (50 pts)Disaster resilient communities tend to adopt all-hazards approach to risk assessment and plan making prior to any adverse impacts induced by natural and human-made hazard events. Under the leadership of local governments, emergency preparedness and hazard mitigation policies and strategies are proposed and implemented in local communities (for this project we look at a municipality, a county, or a metropolitan area) with the guidance, assistance, and financial support from federal and state agencies as well as partnerships with nonprofits and businesses in the implementation phase. Pick a local community in the U.S. and write an assessment about any of the five italicized stakeholders in building disaster resilience that the selected community has or has not addressed; then share your own perspectives on the selected stakeholder(s) for building disaster resilience in the near future to avert and reduce disaster impacts.
