ECONOMETRICS
______________________________________________________
This assignment uses an artificial dataset that mimics the Current Population Survey (CPS). A
real CPS dataset has been used in class and in Chapter 8.
You can download the data from the course website using the commands:
cps <- read.csv(“http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~godwinrt/3040/assign4.csv”)
attach(cps)
The variables in the dataset are: wage – average hourly wage of the worker; education – number of years
of education; experience – number of years of work experience; and male – a dummy variable taking on
the value 1 if the worker is male, and 0 if the worker is female.
1. Estimate the model:
2. Metallic Bonds

Fill in this sheet as you watch the video about Metallic Bonds and Metal Characterisitics:
1) The two major types of bonds are covalent and ionic bonds. The
3rd type of bond is a ________________ bond.
2) Metallic Bond:
The ________________ between metal ions and delocalized
electrons. The electrons are held ____________.
Give at least 2 examples of metals:
3) Copper Electron Configuration:
Which are the free electrons?
4) _________ electrons are ____________ to the positive metals
ions creating a bond. This is called a ________ of electrons.
5) ______________ bonds are not chemical bonds like ionic and
covalent bonds, they are _______________ bonds
6) Metal Characteristics:
A) ____________ electrical conductivity
B) ____________ can be hammered into sheets
C) ____________ can be made into wires
D) ____________ melting point
E) Shiny or dull? ___________
