Introduction and Alignment
Moving up one level in the strategy-making hierarchy, from strategy making in a single business enterprise to strategy making in a diversified enterprise, we look and consider some of the options available to managers at the corporate level. Some of the approaches to diversifying the business lineup such as diversification by acquisition, entering a new line of related or unrelated businesses, or joint venture are addressed.
Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to:
• Differentiate between mergers and acquisitions, providing reasons why companies would use either as a vehicle for corporate strategy.

a. Do some investigation on the Internet of three large mergers or acquisitions over the last two years. What was the rationale for each of these actions? Defend your answer with a comprehensive evaluation that demonstrates clear, insightful critical thinking.
b. In your view, do you think the three mergers or acquisitions will be successful? Explain. Defend your answer with a comprehensive evaluation that demonstrates clear, insightful critical thinking.
2. Your initial response should be 200 to 300 words in length, include two academic resources that are properly cited, and is due by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.
