Student-on-Student Sexual Assaults on College Campuses

During the 88th Academy Awards Ceremony, Vice President Joe Biden made a special appearance to advocate for victims of sexual assault on college campuses. As Biden told an audience, “Despite significant progress over the last few years, too many women and men on and off college campuses are victims of sexual abuse?We must and we can change the culture so that no abused woman or man – like the survivors you see here tonight – ever feel like they have to ask themselves, ‘What did I do?’ They did not do anything wrong.” First, select any criminological theoretical perspective to explain how student-on-student sexual assault occurs on college campuses. Specifically, explain what insights this theoretical perspective offers into explaining this particular crime. You may use more than one theory, if you so choose. Be sure to elaborate fully, and discuss how the work of specific theorists explains the above phenomenon. It should be evident that you have an understanding of legal matters. You must provide an in-depth discussion related to civil and criminal liability. Fully elaborate and point to aspects of the law or court decisions which relate to the topic at hand. Finally, in your opinion, discuss what university administrators can do to reduce or eliminate inappropriate student-on-student sexual assaults. For example, are there specific leadership or managerial strategies that can be employed to curtail this type of behavior? Elaborate.
