Grant Guidelines and Rubric
This assignment is intended to fulfill three goals: 1) Have you prepare a brief grant for your capstone project; 2) have you prepare of basic budget for your capstone project; and 3) provide justification for your budget. There is not a page limit. This can be a brief paper as long as you are able to communicate the required content. Please see the detailed rubric for all aspects of the assignment. This assignment is worth 30 points.
The actual development of the budget will be a new skill for you:
Prepare a basic budget—refer to your Gitlin and Lyons text chapters for preparing and providing justification of an itemized budget. Be sure that you do a complete itemization that includes the item you need (desk chair)—how many you need (2) –cost of the item ($50) and total cost ($100). Consider the major costs involved with your project. The costs may be estimated but should closely reflect ALL costs associated with your capstone project—as if you were applying for grant funding. This means the actual costs associated with starting up your project—as if the project implementation site is unable to provide you with anything except for the physical space. Describe your budget both in paragraph format and in a table format. Some category items may include (this is not an exhaustive list): salary, postage, consulting fees (experts or statisticians), supplies, travel associated with project implementation, hardware/software.
**Please note that project dissemination costs such as attending a conference, etc. are required as part of your budget even if the funding agency you are considering does not allow for travel or dissemination costs***.
Please refer to your Melnyk text, Waxman text, and the Gitlin and Lyons PDF in week 5 for examples of budgets and project timeline tables. Please model your timelines accordingly
The assignment must be completed in a PC compatible format such as Word. Please submit the assignment through the assignment tool in Learning Management System (LMS
