February 14, 2024Examine critically the advantages and disadvantages of using an emissions permit system (also known as a “cap and trade system”) to control the emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases.
Guidance
1) Plan your answer before you start writing. Think about the order of sections in your answer (this should be clear from the question itself). Think too about the relative sizes (word count) of each section (again, the question broadly determines this)
2) Make sure your answer is written in a proper essay manner, I.e. write in proper sentences (not notes!) with correct grammar and spelling
3) Use appropriate diagrams and make sure these are drawn carefully and correctly labelled (axes, points, curves etc.). Use a ruler!
4) Make sure you refer to your diagram in your explanation in the text of your answer
5) Write in a concise and precise manner, i.e. do not waffle!
Marking Criteria
The mark awarded will be based on the following:
1) The accuracy and appropriateness of the answer provided
2) The degree to which effective use has been made of appropriate diagrams
3) The quality of the writing and overall presentation of the answer. Marks will be lost for sloppy or careless work, e.g. poor grammar, inaccurate or sloppily drawn diagrams.
