Do back-up your solution with strong logic, evidence from the case, and numerical analysis; 4.) Do provide realistic and practical solutions given the context of the case; 5.) Do put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist and frame your response so that you consider it as your career on the line, it’s your money being invested and/or it’s your life; 6.) Do focus only on the most critical issues; 7.) Do make decisions with the available information. Don’t “punt” due to imperfect data; 8.) Do use concise and clear language. The fewer words you use to convey your points clearly, the better. Don’ts: 1.) Don’t waste time repeating case facts; 2.) Don’t make unsubstantiated recommendations; 3.) Don’t conduct numerical analysis without using it to make a concrete decision; 4.) Don’t mechanically apply the Growth/FIT frameworks – use them as a guide; 5.) Don’t provide “pie-in-the-sky” solutions – be practical; 6.) Don’t take a consultant point of view. An entrepreneur makes and implements decisions.
