post has three assignments
1:Sensation Seeking – Experience-seeking
Define the psychological construct.
-The rationale/justification for designing the measure
*Recognise there are 4 elements ie Thrill- and adventure-seeking, Disinhibition, Boredom, and Experience-seeking then narrow it down to Experience-seeking use a space limitation as a rationale.
– Identify possible Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) that could help you create and develop such a measure.
– Include the steps that you have taken to create the original pool of item
2: Letter of Intent
1. Problem Statement
A problem statement should describe the elements of a researchable problem. The statement should be conveyed as a series of paragraphs that flow logically from a discussion of the background of the topic to an over-arching statement of the general problem to a narrow statement of the
specific problem. Elements of the problem statement should specify
what is problematic, how it is problematic and for whom it is problematic. The problem statement should be supported with references to the literature sufficient to describe and reinforce the relevance of the topic and the importance of the general and specific problems.
The Problem Statement should:
• Contain at least one or two paragraphs that convey the relevance of the over-arching topic in which the general and specific problems are grounded.
• Identify a general problem associated with the topic that supports the need for additional research.
• Identify a specific problem that is aligned with and related to the general problem, and that indicates what is problematic, how it is problematic and for whom it is problematic
.
• Be thoughtfully supported with evidence from current literature that reinforces the relevance of the topic, as well as the importance of t
he general and specific problems.
• Conclude with a statement that explains how research could address the specific problem.
2. Purpose Statement
The purpose statement is a concise description of the research focus, methodology, population to be studied, and geographic location
of the study. The Purpose Statement must align with the general and specific problem statements.
The Purpose Statement should:
• Articulate a specific reason for conducting the proposed research
in one or two sentences.
• Align with the general and specific problem statements.
• Identify the methodology, the study population and the geographic location for the study.
• Be thoughtfully supported with references to current literature that support the relevance of the study.
3. Importance of the Study
The Importance of the Study is a discussion of how the study represents a
unique approach to the problem, how the results may contribute to theory and /or practice in the field, and what might be the implications of the research. Identify any knowledge gaps to be addressed by the proposed research, how the results of the proposed study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge of the over-arching topic, and how practitioners and researchers may use the results of the study to address the specific problem.
The Importance of the Study should:
• Comprise two or more paragraphs that describe clearly and completely how the study represents a contribution to theory and/or practice associated with the over -arching topic of the study, and what might be the implications of the study findings.
• Identify how the research results may be used to address the specific problem articulated in the research proposal and the gap in the literature that has been identified.
• Be thoughtfully supported with references to current literature that reinforce the importance of the study.
4. Proposed Research Methodology
The discussion of the Proposed Research Methodology should
briefly describe the research methodology for the proposed study, including the research method and research design, population and sample, instrumentation, and data collection and analysis approaches
.
The Proposed Research Methodology should:
• Identify the research method (quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods) and research design, justifying the method and design as being appropriate to the proposed study and aligned with the specific problem and purpose statements.
• Describe the population and sample associated with the proposed study, including a discussion of the sampling methodology that will be used to obtain participants from the study population.
• Identify proposed instrumentation and data collection methods.
• Describe briefly the approach that will be used to analyze the data collected during the study.
• Be supported with references to current literature that reinforce the applicability of the proposed research methodology.
5. Research Questions
The Research Questions should identify the specific research questions
(and associated hypotheses, if applicable) to be addressed, consistent with the proposed research method and design. Research questions should guide the overall research inquiry, influencing the study methodology.
The Research Questions should:
• Be aligned with the specific problem and purpose statements.
• Be constructed consistent with the identified research methodology and design.
• Reflect open-ended, robust questions that are congruent with the research intent and knowledge sought in the proposed study.
• Include null and alternative hypotheses for each quantitative research question that are appropriately constructed and reflective of the intent of each research question
