UK based International trade law question: Critically assess the role that the Bill of Lading plays within the sphere of International Trade. Your answer should make reference to relevant case law and academic opinion.

Main aim: to give a general overview of why Bill of Lading is so important in international trade law.

Introduction: What it is & what it does. The function of BoL
and where it comes from.

Things to Adhere and discuss: (how does each element relate the the Bill of Lading)
• Why is it so important for FOB
? Why is it so important for CIF(how important it is for CIF contracts)
• Doc credits(how important it is for Documentary credits situation)
? Hague Visby rules
• Other rules: Hamburg rules & Rotterdam rules
Does these elements show the importance of BoL? Is it still important? Is the importance diminishing?

Please focus on the role of bill of lading & its nature in international trade law.
Explain briefly what happened if one is tendered which is not clean.
